“All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve
is the direct result of this own thoughts.”

The above quote was written by James Allen in his classic writing, “As a Man Thinketh.”

The Apostle Paul wrote hundreds of years earlier…

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is
noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is
lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent
or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you
have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in
me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be
with you.” — Philippians 4:8-9

Both writers understood the principle that what you get from life begins with what you think about.

I don’t believe God wants His people to live lives of scarcity enslaved by negative thoughts.

Christ tells us in John 10:10, “I have come to give you life, and to give it more abundantly.”

Christ demonstrated positive thinking, possibility thinking, and management. He rewarded those who used their talents and condemned those who took the easy way out. He showed anger toward those who took advantage of the poor and praised those who shared their wealth with others. He demonstrated the strength of faith that can overcome failure, despair, hate, and ridicule.

To begin experiencing more abundance in your life, you must first believe in yourself; you must have a healthy respect for your own worth as a child of God.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4:13)

Next, you must use your mind to tap into the power offered in the scripture.

“You are given the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor. 2:16)

Then, you must be in touch with the power of prayer for guidance and inspiration. You must expect the best. “All things are possible to him who believes.”

Personal problems can limit your capabilities, so you must learn to rise above defeat, depression, and thinking that limits your potential.

Perhaps you’ve heard the saying…

Before your circumstances can change…
First… you’ve got to change.

You see, it’s about accepting personal responsibility for yourself. A person’s strength or weakness, success or failure, happiness or despair… are his own and not another’s. They are brought about by himself, and not by another, and they can only be altered by himself, never by another.

I hear people oftentimes say, “I don’t have the time for my own business.” or “I don’t have the money to start a business.”

I’ve come to understand those folks are exactly right. As Henry Ford said, “Whether you say you can or say you can’t… you’re exactly right.”

You CHOOSE what you get out of life.

How you choose to use your time will be of your own making and it all begins with thought. We all have the same amount of time… the difference is HOW we use it. If you think you don’t have enough… guess what? You NEVER will have enough.

The same is true of money. It amazes me how Americans living in the most prosperous nation on the planet can complain of NOT having enough money. If you think you don’t have enough… that might explain why you don’t. Why is it that an immigrant coming to America has a greater chance of success than someone born in America? I believe it’s because of their “thoughts.”

“As he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains,” writes Allen. “A man can only rise, conquer, and achieve by lifting up his thoughts. He can only remain weak, and hopeless, and miserable by refusing to lift up his thoughts.”

As Paul instructed, if we are to experience the abundance available to us, we’ve got to first change our thoughts.

One thought you can change today is that thought that says, “Oh I CAN’T do that.”

Instead, replace that self-talk with…
“HOW can I do that?”
